Our History

FaceCam is a professional facial motion capture hardware product originally designed by Standard Deviation, an Academy Award–winning studio with over 20 years of experience building custom motion capture systems for film and games.

As demand for FaceCam grew beyond internal and studio use, a new company — Radical Variance — was formed to manufacture, sell, and support the FaceCam iPhone HMC as an off-the-shelf professional product.

Radical Variance operates the Face.camera website and handles all sales, fulfillment, and customer support for FaceCam products.

FaceCam users include professionals working in film, television, live broadcast, games, and virtual production. The system is designed to provide stable, comfortable, professional-quality facial motion capture using iPhone® models X and newer, with no proprietary software required.
